Following her recent appointment as Non-Executive Director in the Cheshire and Merseyside Integrated Care Board, we caught up with Dr Ruth Hussey to talk about her ambitions, how she will work with our DsPH and the challenges and opportunities for the public health system going forward.
Ruth, who trained as a GP, was Liverpool’s Director of Public Health for over 10 years before taking leadership roles at Cheshire and Merseyside Strategic Health Authority, North West Region and at the Department of Health, before becoming Chief Medical Officer for Wales until 2016.
She has been committed to reducing health inequalities in all her roles. The DsPH are delighted to be working with Ruth again on improving population health.
