Professor Matt Ashton joins the Association of Directors of Public Health (ADPH) UK Board

Congratulations to Professor Matt Ashton, Director of Public Health in Liverpool and Chair of the Champs Public Health Collaborative Board, who is to join the ADPH UK Board, along with Julia Weldon, Director of Public Health for Hull City Council.

The ADPH support Directors of Public Health (DsPH) across the UK to improve and protect health and reduce health inequalities. Elected by ADPH members, each Board member serves a three-year term and is a Trustee and Company Director. Matt will take up his position in May.

Matt Ashton said:

“I am honoured to be joining the ADPH UK Board and look forward to representing the views of our members at a national and local level. The ADPH has for many years been an important voice for public health, advising on health policies, supporting DsPH members and providing professional development opportunities and I am thrilled to be taking an active role in its future.”

Greg Fell, ADPH President said:

“We are delighted to be welcoming Matt and Julia to the ADPH Board. They are both extremely experienced DsPH who, as highly valued and respected leaders of two of our policy advisory groups, have already proved to be excellent advocates for DsPH at a national level.

“We are now looking forward to them bringing this wealth of knowledge and skills to their new roles, which will be instrumental in helping ADPH continue to be the trusted voice of public health, and to provide a support network for members to share ideas and good practice.”
