Have your say on the new suicide prevention strategy for Cheshire and Merseyside

The Collaborative is working with Cheshire and Merseyside’s Integrated Care System to develop a new suicide prevention strategy for the 2.5 million people living in the subregion.

As part of this, the Collaborative are currently undertaking a consultation on the new strategy, engaging with a wide variety of families and individuals with lived experience of suicide together with organisations and leaders across Cheshire and Merseyside’s health and care system.

The aim of the consultation is to allow partners to contribute towards shaping the future strategy to prevent suicide across the subregion.

Ruth du Plessis, Director of Public Health for St Helens and Lead Director for Suicide Prevention, said:

“Sadly, more than 200 people a year take their own life in Cheshire and Merseyside. Supporting people who are thinking of suicide to stay alive is our number one priority and we are committed to continue working closely with colleagues across the subregion towards reaching the ambition of zero suicide for Cheshire and Merseyside.

“If you work with high-risk groups or have a view on how we should be delivering our new Suicide Prevention Strategy for the subregion, please take part in our consultation.

“It’s vital that we identify priorities together and continue to work with partners across the system to do everything we can to reduce the number of people dying each year from suicide.”

If you would like to have your say on the strategy and share your views, please complete our short online survey here by 5pm on 4th February 2022.
