Thank you to David Parr

Dr Sarah McNulty, Chair of the Cheshire and Merseyside Directors of Public Health Executive Board, has written to David Parr OBE, thanking him for his leadership, support and advocacy as he prepares to step down from his role as Chief Executive of Halton Borough Council.

David has been Chief Executive of the council for 18 years and has celebrated 38-years’ service overall in local government. He will be spending his well-deserved retirement enjoying more time with his family.

The Collaborative’s Reduction of Harm from Alcohol Programme has benefited greatly from David’s advice, support and leadership. He has overseen the development of many projects, including the Programme’s Alcohol Citizen’s Inquiry, which sought to learn more about local peoples’ views on alcohol use.

Dear David,

On behalf of the C&M DsPH I want to say a big thank you for your fantastic leadership, support and advocacy for public health approaches throughout the response to the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as prior to this. The DsPH have really valued the opportunity to work with you.

We have particularly appreciated your energy and support for tackling alcohol harm across C&M and beyond. The work will continue and we hope you enjoy a long and happy retirement.
