A collaborative commissioning pilot for in-patient detox (IPD) has been shortlisted for two awards by the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) and the Public Finance Awards 2024.
Gary Rickwood from Wirral Council has been working with colleagues on a report that was shared with the Cheshire & Merseyside Directors of Public Health at their recent system leadership meeting, summarising the key outcomes from the 8-week pilot project. It has seen positive outcomes for both services users and commissioners, with more providers offering a larger range of options to service users. Waiting times have also been reduced.
The Public Finance awards taking place on Tuesday 26th November recognise the people, products and services that demonstrate excellence and originality within public finance, with other IPD programme coming under the “Collaboration and Innovation within Local Services” category.
Meanwhile, the HFMA awards taking place on Thursday 5th December, is an annual celebration of innovation and excellence in healthcare, finance and governance, and the IPD programme has been nominated in the “Collaborative Commisioning” category. Both ceremonies will be hosted in London later this year.
