Report published highlighting the success of Contract Tracing and Introduction to Health Protection Course

A comprehensive review of the Contact Tracing and Introduction to Health Protection Course delivered in Cheshire and Merseyside by is now available to view.

The review was delivered by the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA), the Collaborative and the University of Liverpool for the viewing of health care professionals across the North West. Led by the nine Directors of Public Health (DsPH) across C&M, with Director of Public Health for Health Protection Matt Tyrer acting as the senior responsible officer, the report reflects on the refreshed course taken up by 153 candidates from 2022 to 2024.

The programme was first introduced in 2021 when then need for skilled contact tracers arose during the national lockdown in 2020 but was later modified to include knowledge on higher consequence infectious diseases such as Mpox. The report reflects on positive feedback from the candidates, highlighting an overall enhanced understanding of multiple infectious diseases and outbreak management, with many even considering further education in the field.
