NHS England will be contributing to the development of the Public Health Workforce in 24/25 by supporting employers to access the Public Health Practitioner (PHP) Integrated Degree Apprenticeship.
A small number of training grants are available to public health or care employers wishing to support an apprentice through this pathway, commencing in January 2025. As funding is limited, we will be inviting employers to take part in an Expression of Interest (EoI) process.
The training grant available is:
Year 1 £24,918 per apprentice paid quarterly at a monthly rate of £2,076.50*
Year 2 £16,612 per apprentice paid quarterly at a monthly rate of £1,384.34*
Year 3 £8,306 per apprentice paid quarterly at a monthly rate of £692.17*
* Figures include 24/25 uplift, which is pending approval
NB Please consider these figures carefully as they differ from the offer described originally |
The grant can be used on:
- Apprentice salary support/backfill costs associated with off-the-job training
- Apprentice travel and subsistence costs associated with the training programme
- Any accommodation costs associated with off-the-job training
Next steps
- Information sessions regarding the Public Health Integrated Degree Apprenticeship were provided by the University of Salford and NHS England in July and August. If you were unable to attend, please email phpn.northwest@nhs.net to request access to the recording.
- Please read the attached Funding Principles and consider whether you would like to support an employee to develop in this way.
- Complete the EoI form here by 5pm on 30th September 2024.
Training grant EoIs and apprenticeship programme applications are independent processes: · This EoI process is for a training grant only · Employer’s candidates must also apply to the Education Provider of their choice and secure a place on the apprenticeship programme to make use of the training grant · Employers can support candidates to undertake the programme with or without a training grant from NHS England |
