Liverpool John Moores University Faculty of Health Lecture hosted by Dr Peter Malinowski. Mindfulness-based practices and character strengths work are two of the strongest applied approaches of positive psychology. Empirical evidence shows that both can be effective in enhancing mental health and wellbeing. In this talk Dr Malinowski will discuss their potential to preserve positive mental health. Dr Malinowski will introduce how these two approaches can be effective on their own and in combination: strong mindfulness – how character strengths can be used to develop mindfulness and mindful character strengths – how mindfulness can be utilised to optimise character strengths use. It will draw on conceptual work, empirical studies, and also the experience of delivering the mindfulness-based strengths practice approach as core component of LJMU’s MSc Positive Psychology & Wellbeing.
