Public health professionals across Cheshire and Merseyside are being encouraged to join the free Health Equity Network, which supports the variety of public, private and third sector partners working to reduce health inequalities.
A first of its kind in the UK, The Health Equity Network was launched by Professor Sir Michael’s Marmot’s Institute of Health Equity in partnership with the financial services and asset management company Legal & General back in 2023.
Its purpose is to provide a single platform for people working on health equity to connect, share ideas and present examples of best practice in tackling health inequalities. Individual users and organisations can sign up to the network and create profiles that detail their specific areas of interest, as well as start and contribute to conversations and monthly webinars relating to health equity programmes, news and policies.

Once signed up, here are some helpful resources for getting started on the platform:
- First, a Youtube Walkthrough video detailing each platform feature.
- Make a post introducing yourself, either in the LiveFeed or in a Group.
- Explore over 30 Groups categorised by Marmot Principles, sector, geographical areas, and more specific topics like housing, children and young people, creative health, or racism and discrimination.
- Browse the Projects page, where Network Members have uploaded their work for discussion and collaborations. (Top tip: this is a great place to showcase your work!)
- Register for Events.
- Update your profile with useful information to allow others to make contact with you.
