The Lower My Drinking (LMD) app is being promoted for a fourth year under the theme of ‘Dry January’ in 2025, as millions of people around the UK prepare to go alcohol-free for a month.
The theme provides an ideal opportunity for healthcare professionals and other key stakeholders to promote the LMD app across the subregion, which is freely available to download from Google Play or the App Store.
A new toolkit is now available containing resources that combine the benefits of Dry January with the support systems of the LMD app, including printable posters and leaflets, digital ads, website banners, refreshed social assets and videos.
Why Dry January?
The Dry January® Challenge, Alcohol Change UK’s flagship initiative, supports millions of people each year in taking month long break from alcohol consumption to reset their relationship with drinking.
With the number of people planning to go alcohol-free in January growing from 4.2 million in 2019 to 8.5 million in 2024, the national campaign has a proven ability to help participants unlock physical, mental and emotional health benefits and prioritise their wellbeing.
The LMD app shares many it’s pull factors with the Dry January campaign, including saving money, losing weight and reducing levels of cancer-related proteins in the blood. The app is designed to empower users to build healthier habits by providing the tools to help reduce their alcohol consumption, which is ultimately why the two campaigns go hand in hand.
Leave your feedback
Positive feedback is one of the most valuable assets for raising the profile of the Lower My Drinking app. Evidence strongly suggests that a better star rating on the App Store or Google play, leads to a stronger bond of trust and increased engagement for users.
If you haven’t already, we would appreciate your time to download the app and leave a star rating to give us the best chance of extending the app’s reach and increasing positive user experiences in future.
Our ambition is to help the people of Cheshire and Merseyside to see the benefits of managing their drinking habits by using the app. Leaving your feedback could play a key part in helping us to achieve this.
