Registration is open for this learning hub brought to you by Halton’s public health team.
What are learning hubs?
Learning hubs give an opportunity for practitioners within local authorities to build their knowledge and skills in public health. They also facilitate sharing of good practice across teams in Cheshire & Merseyside. Each learning hub will be hosted by a particular local authority and topics to be covered will be decided by the host area.
Please note capacity will be limited, so places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
What will be the focus for Halton’s learning hub?
Halton’s learning hub will focus on healthy new towns and embedding health into place.
In 2015, NHS England launched Healthy New Towns, working with 10 housing developments across England to shape the health of communities and to rethink how health and care services can be delivered. The programme was born from the NHS Five Year Forward View which provided a clear commitment to dramatically improve population health, and integrate health and care services, as new places are built and take shape.
Halton Lea in Runcorn was one of the 10 demonstrator sites for NHS Healthy New Towns. This learning hub explores the Halton experience of this, what was learned, what was beneficial and the difficulties faced. It will also highlight two aspects of the Halton Lea development that would provide interesting and useful talking points to share learning and learn from each other.
Who should attend?
Learning hub events are open to practitioners from Cheshire & Merseyside public health teams but attendees from wider local authority teams working in areas such as environmental health, planning, neighbourhood services etc are encouraged.
What participants can expect to get out of the session?
The session will provide colleagues with:
- An opportunity to learn more about the NHS Healthy New Town Programme
- An insight into building health into regeneration, not just new developments
- Examples of engaging retail in delivering public health – that’s wider than healthy outlets
- An opportunity to explore different ideas of embedding health into place Sessions will be informal and interactive to share and learn from each other.
