On 9th July, 64 senior stakeholders joined an online event to learn more about the All Together Active programme.
The purpose of the event was to bring the Integrated Care Board, health and wider senior colleagues together to raise awareness about the potential of physical activity and how it can be a tool for supporting some of our biggest health problems.
Speakers at the event included Prof. Ian Ashworth (Director of Population Health, NHS Cheshire and Merseyside) who chaired the event and noted the great progress made over the last two years following the launch of the All Together Active strategy. Raj Jain (Chair, NHS Cheshire and Merseyside) covered the importance of physical activity in helping prevent a variety of illnesses.
Mike Watson (CEO, Active Cheshire) and Justine Blomeley (CEO, MSP) covered the programme’s strategic objectives and the whole system approach required to meet them. Carl Marsh, Place Director from Warrington, gave an excellent talk on how Warrington have embedded physical activity and what steps they will be taking going forward.
Following the presentations, Raj then set out a call to action for each Place Director to consider further embedding physical activity within their place-based plans and priorities. Both active partnerships offered to assist Place Directors with the call to action.
If you missed the event, the recording is available for you to watch at your convenience.
A follow up “in person” event on 11th October is being organised by Active Cheshire and MSP and further details will be shared in due course.
