Lead Champs Collaborative DPH highlights Cheshire and Merseyside Suicide Prevention programme work to national audiences

Ruth du Plessis, Cheshire and Merseyside’s Lead Director of Public Health for Suicide Prevention presented on the Collaborative’s work to prevent as many suicides as possible and reduce the number of people impacted by suicides in the subregion at two national conferences recently.

The first presentation ‘Developing & Implementing a Robust Suicide Prevention Strategy to Tackle High Suicide Levels’ was presented at the National Suicide Prevention Conference on 25th April and the second ‘Crafting and Executing a Resilient Mental Health Plan to Address Elevated Suicide Rates’ was presented at the Mental Health Services Conference on 8th May.

Speaking about the presentations, Ruth said:

“I was pleased to be able to share our Cheshire and Merseyside approach to preventing suicides with audiences from across the country.

“Key to our strategy and action plan, is working with partners across the system to do everything we can to reduce the number of people dying each year from suicide.”
