Hundreds expected to attend the International Festival of Public Health 2026

The International Festival of Public Health, hosted by the University of Manchester’s Community Medicine and Public Health Group in the Division of Medical Education, School of Medical Sciences will return this year on Tuesday 14th July.

Organisers behind the conference, now in its 14th year, have partnered with the European Public Health Association’s Global Health section and are expecting between 200 and 300 delegates from across the UK and the world to attend on the day, in person, at the University of Manchester.

The purpose of the event is to provide an inclusive platform for the public, researchers, students and professionals working in the public health field to interact and share ideas for developing services, research and teaching.

Professor Arpana Verma, Chair of the International Festival of Public Health, said:

“We’re pleased to host the International Festival of Public Health for the 14th year. It’s always been our goal to have an accessible and inclusive Festival that can be of benefit to anyone with an interest in public health and beyond.

“We understand how expensive and inaccessible many conferences are these days and we believe that sharing knowledge is vital.

“We hope that people enjoy talks from some world-leading speakers, and get the opportunity to widen their own networks at our event.”

This year’s event will have five main themes as follows:

  • Global Public Health
  • Commercial Determinants of Health
  • Research Inclusion
  • AI and Public Health
  • Women’s Health

Confirmed keynote speakers for this year’s conference include:

  • Nicholas Banatvala, Head of the Secretariat for the United Nations Interagency Task Force on the Prevention and Control of Noncommunicable Diseases (NCDs)
  • Jess Asato MP, Labour Member of Parliament for Lowestoft
  • Tracy Daszkiewicz, President of the Faculty of Public Health
  • Elena Petolos, President of the Global Health section, European Public Health Association
  • Tina Purnat, Leadership Fellow and DrPH candidate, Harvard Chan School of Public Health, and former lead for infodemic management, World Health Organization

More keynote speakers will be announced in the coming weeks.
A diverse line-up of around 20 exhibitors are also expected at the event including academic institutions, community groups and the NHS.
The final programme for the Festival will be released early July.
