First key Marmot report for Cheshire and Merseyside published

Professor Sir Michael Marmot’s team at the Institute of Health Equity has published ‘Building Back Fairer in Cheshire and Merseyside: Evidence for action and key approaches’. This interim report is the first key publication from the team since it was commissioned by the Cheshire and Merseyside Health and Care Partnership’s Population Health Board to support work to reduce health inequalities in the subregion through action on the social determinants of health.

The report highlights existing and developing actions and partnerships currently addressing health inequalities in the subregion, as well as proposed further actions for consideration by stakeholders.

The contents of the report have also been used to inform a series of place-based workshops with local authorities in the subregion, which have been taking place throughout November and will continue into December. Following the completion of these workshops, further learning will be incorporated into the report and a ‘final’ version will be published early next year.
