Blacon Fairer Futures six week programme for young people leads to new community improvements

Young people from across four local schools in Blacon have participated in a six week programme with the Tackling Poverty team to explore what a fairer future means to them, their aspirations for the future and their priorities for the community.

A community event was held at the end of the programme bringing together key stakeholders from the community. To date, this has resulted in changes to environmental and community safety patrols in the area, the development of a new sports festival, and the young people presenting to the community partnership and the Tackling Poverty Summit.

Further plans are in development to roll out financial education in schools and a legacy plan for the schools to continue the programme in future years.”
