“Overcoming poverty is not a gesture of charity. It is an act of justice. It is the protection of a fundamental human right, the right to dignity and a decent life.”
Nelson Mandela
Cheshire and Merseyside’s Directors of Public Health and Population Health published a report into child and family poverty in the subregion in 2024. The report found that child poverty levels in England, and across Cheshire and Merseyside (C&M), are a serious issue of social injustice. The ambition for no child to live in poverty was established with system partners.
We would now like to share progress one year on with colleagues from across Cheshire and Merseyside who have an interest in improving the opportunities for our most vulnerable families and children. We will also hear from two local speakers on their experiences in tackling child and family poverty.
Who should attend?
Colleagues from across Cheshire and Merseyside’s public health community with an interest in improving the opportunities for our most vulnerable children and families.
The full agenda will be available via email for those who sign up.
