Ruth du Plessis, Director of Public Health for St Helens, delivered an insightful presentation on child and family poverty across Cheshire and Merseyside at the VS6 Beyond Innovation event, ‘Tacking Child Poverty in Liverpool City Region’.
The event took place on Wednesday 23rd April and Ruth discussed why child poverty matters, the scale of the problem across the subregion and how child poverty is associated with poor outcomes across every aspect of a child and young person’s life. With 100,300 children in Cheshire and Merseyside living in poverty, many in working households, the need for change is critical.
Ruth’s engaging presentation highlighted Cheshire and Merseyside’s child poverty report ‘A rapid situational analysis on child and family poverty in Cheshire and Merseyside’ and concluded with a discussion on what partners can do collectively to help tackle child poverty across the subregion.
