“Suicide is everyone’s business”
The International Association for Suicide Prevention (IASP), in collaboration with the World Health Organization, launched World Suicide Prevention Day in 2003. The current triennial theme, “Creating Hope Through Action”, reminds us that every conversation, connection and act of support can make a difference.
Taking a whole-community approach to suicide prevention helps reduce stigma, encourages people to speak openly about their mental health, and increases awareness of how to recognise the signs that someone may be struggling. By improving our knowledge and understanding, we can help ensure people receive the right support at the right time.
