This month saw a highly productive meeting of the All Together Smoke Free Partnership Board, at which the first phase of results from the programme’s insight project were presented.
The findings included a detailed segmentation of Cheshire and Merseyside’s smoking population, which grouped them by behaviour and attitude, and revealed some interesting insight to inform the programme.
The full data is still being analysed, but there are some interesting findings particularly in relation to non-daily smokers and vaping. For example, only 79% of smokers surveyed smoke every day, and the inclusion of non-daily or smokers revealed new information about this groups. For example, 61% of 18-24 year old smokers also vape, and this declines with frequency of smoking.
The project will now move into its qualitative phase, which will involve focus groups and in-depth studies with smokers, family and friends to reinforce and explore the findings so far. The full insight will be presented and shared in due course, and will be used the inform both the communications elements and the Programme as a whole.
The public facing website, www.Smokingendshere.com continues to go from strength to strength, with over 6,000 visitors to date and good engagement stats. The digital campaign continues to garner excellent results and has recently been refreshed with new messaging and imagery.
Finally, we have continued with PR and advocacy activity, with several press releases sent out, and a consistent level of coverage. In particular, our package around the disposable vapes ban on 1st June achieved extensive broadcast and print coverage, including target outlets North West Tonight and Granada.
