Following last year’s successful health protection training programme, ‘Introduction to Integrated Health Protection’ we’re pleased to announce the programme will be continuing to run for another 12 months and the applications for the next cohort are already open.
The next course starts on 17th April 2023 and will be delivered under the leadership of the Collaborative and UKHSA, focusing on general health protection principles, and will aim to provide a strong overview of the practice and its benefits giving a good introduction to health protection for those who are new to this area of work, or as a refresher for those who need it.
Several members of the workforce have now completed the four-week long course which will count towards continuous professional development (CPD) hours. The course is delivered by various health protection specialists and experts and covers:
- Introduction to Health Protection (this will include knowledge of concepts and frameworks within Health Protection)
- Infection Prevention and Control
- Vaccine and Immunisation
- Diseases (Looking at various diseases which may include E. coli, Monkeypox, Salmonella etc.)
- Communication
The training course will also include reflective practices and a round up, followed by a final assessment.
Due to the success of the training course, future planned training dates have already been put in place and are also open for applications. The dates are as follows;
30 May 2023 – 23 June 2023
7 August 2023 – 1 September 2023
2 October 2023 – 27 October 2023
Feedback from the course has been overwhelmingly positive:
“I was very surprised to find that the session on reflection gave me a whole new perspective especially regarding how to complete it without over complicating it. Getting the most out of reflection by choosing appropriate situations to reflect on and models to use to fit different situations. I intend to try using the different models going forward to hopefully become a more reflective practitioner and improve outcomes for myself both personally and professionally.”
“Attending the course has enabled me to seek more opportunities in HP, for a future career so has had a positive impact.”
“I have enjoyed all the sessions. I feel they were all delivered at the right pace and at the right depth with plenty of opportunity for questions. The self-directed reading is very helpful too”.
“The introduction to the course and hearing from different speakers was a useful insight into health protection from different perspectives. The course leader made us all feel very welcomed.”
