On Friday 28th January, almost 300 people from across the North West of England came together for an afternoon of positive psychology with The Art of Brilliance – an event hosted by North West Employers in partnership with Champs Public Health Collaborative.

The online event was opened by Gillian Bishop, Chief Executive of North West Employers and Prof Matt Ashton, Director of Public Health for Liverpool.

Participants were welcomed for attending the event which had been organised as an opportunity for all those involved in responding to the COVID pandemic over the last two years to take some time out to re-energise and reflect.

Speaking at the event, Matt said:

“It truly has been the most challenging time for us all but your dedication, your expertise and your support in doing the vital job of keeping our communities safe has been absolutely phenomenal so thank you.”

Darrell Woodman, Trainer and Director, The Art of Brilliance delivered an interactive, thought-provoking and engaging session around positive psychology, wellbeing and resilience.

The session was very well received, with some excellent comments from participants including:

“The event gave us time to reflect and take time out to remember why we do what we do and it was very relevant given that our public health teams have been really affected by the COVID pandemic in terms of being stretched to capacity and doing the jobs of more than one person.”

“While I am naturally a positive person, it was helpful to consider how I might help others to be more positive.”
