Guidance for Practitioner application

Criteria for applying to the scheme is as follows:

  • Practicing  at a minimum  of Level 5 or 6 or 7 (maximum) of the skills for health framework link Skills for Health or be working within the range of functions set out in the Public Health Skills and Knowledge Framework 2016 link PHSKF
  • Have a minimum of 2yrs practice working in a Public Health Practitioner role and access to your work products over this period
  • Be committed to completing the programme in 12 month period with the support of your line manager
  • Have minimal gaps in public health practice, based on the self-assessment tool which covers the 34 UKPHR Practitioner Standards

To apply for the scheme you must complete / provide the following:

  • Practitioner Scheme Application
  • Self-Assessment tool
  • Provide your current annual appraisal (or equivalent)
  • Short draft of a commentary covering the work context example chosen and addressing one chosen standard

These four documents form your application pack. The panel will review these documents and may shortlist candidates for a selection interview once all applications have been reviewed.
