Marmot Review 10 years on

The Marmot review was released 10 years ago and the Health Foundation have now released a follow on review to highlight the current position in England.

‘The Marmot Review 10 years on’ found that ten years since the publication of The Marmot Review, for the first time in more than 100 years life expectancy has failed to increase across the country, and for the poorest 10% of women it has actually declined. Over the last decade health inequalities have widened overall, and the amount of time people spend in poor health has increased since 2010.

To tackle health inequalities in the sub-region, Cheshire & Merseyside have agreed to become a Marmot Community as a Health and Care Partnership footprint. Work is underway to put this into action, with plans to set up a Marmot Community Task and Finish Group.
