Councillor Louise Gittins who is now leader of Cheshire West and Chester Council has agreed to become a champion for the work that the Champs Collaborative facilitates around suicide prevention in C&M. She said of her new position:

“I am passionate about the mental health of people in our community and I believe that no one should have to resort to suicide given the right care and support. For this reason I am pleased to be taking on the role of suicide prevention elected member champion for the Champs Collaborative and look forward to helping to make a real and lasting difference to the suicide prevention agenda in Cheshire & Merseyside.”

We would like to thank Councillor Gittins for her enthusiasm and commitment towards this topic to date and for agreeing to take on this role. We look forward to welcoming her to the next Suicide Prevention Board meeting.
