DsPH and senior public health leaders from local authorities/NHSE and PHE took part in a strategic sector led improvement workshop. The participants:

  • Received the latest peer challenge training from the LGA
  • Agreed to pilot an innovative SLI toolkit to assess whole the council contribution to PH, developed in Warrington using a health in all policies approach
  • Decided on a new C&M Outcomes Framework developed by PHE to inform future SLI work
  • Explored the latest data from PHE on preventable deaths:
  1. C&M is bucking the NW trend on Ischaemic Heart Disease even in the most deprived areas, which is most likely to be due to the successful system wide work on blood pressure
  2. There was a strong emphasis on the need to address inequalities to see improvement
  3. COPD remains a challenge and DsPH will explore this further with the Health and Care Partnership
  • All rated the event very positively and will utilise the learning to inform collective and local work
