Food Active are hosting their annual conference, 'Childhood Obesity – Let’s Start at the Very Beginning’, in response to the lack of focus on early years and maternal health in the Government’s Childhood Obesity Plan, Chapter 2.

The conference will bring together practitioners, academic and other experts to discuss the importance, challenges and opportunities for promoting healthy weight from pre-pregnancy to pre-school.

Confirmed speakers include:

Dr Emma Boyland, Senior Lecturer in Psychology, University of Liverpool

Sarah Vince-Cain, Clinical Programme Manager for the Reducing Childhood Obesity in Manchester Programme, Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust

Nicola Denninson, Child Obesity and Physical Activity Programme Manager, Public Health England

Dr Julie Abayomi, Dietician and Reader of Dietetics at Liverpool John Moores University

Further speakers to be announced in the coming weeks.

The conference will be held at the Bridge 5 Mill, Manchester from 10am until 3pm, with registration opening from 9:30am. The venue is located about 15-20 minutes from Piccadilly, easily accessible via the tram network and nearby parking spaces are available. Further information on accessing the venue will be circulated to registered delegates in the weeks running up to the conference.
